Putting children first. It's a philosophy that began in 1921 when a Dallas orthopedic surgeon and a group of Masons saw the need to provide children with quality medical care, regardless of their ability to pay. Thanks solely to the support of donations, the vision soon grew to become one of the nation's recognized leaders in the treatment of orthopedic conditions, related neurological disorders and learning disabilities.
Today, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children provides ongoing care for more than 13,000 children, without charge. Thanks to the contributions made by individuals, foundations and corporations, no family has ever received a bill for services received.
TSRCH has touched the lives of thousands through a commitment to research and study. And although our future promises continued medical breakthroughs, our physicians and staff remain committed to the philosophy that began it all - putting children first.
If you know of a child that may benefit from the Texas Scottish Rite's services, please contact Fred Haller of the El Paso Scottish Rite.

In 1920, Samuel P. Cochran, the Executive Head of the Scottish Rite Masonry in Texas, recognized that there was a lack of suitable housing for young women who were attending The University of Texas. He asked the Scottish Rite Bodies in Texas to donate the necessary funds to build a dormitory. In 1922, the dormitory opened the doors to its present building. It is a gift of Scottish Rite Masons in tribute to, and in interest of, aspiring young women.
As per the Charter, Scottish Rite Dormitory was built to provide a home-like atmosphere for the young women attending The University of Texas at Austin. The primary objective of Scottish Rite Dormitory is to promote the spiritual, mental, and physical development of our residents during their stay at SRD.
